No matter how careful you are, spills will happen from time to time. Fortunately, there are several ways you can reduce the risk of permanent liquids stains.
Step 1. Dab the stain immediately. Use a spoon to remove as much liquid as you can. Immediately working from the outside in or use your portable machine to extract. Now use paper towels and blot pressing down firmly, repeat repeat. It will soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid scrubbing, as this can damage the carpet fibres!
Step 2. Add water to dilute the liquid stain. Generously pour water onto the stain. Do not worry about using to much water. This will break down the dye stains from the carpet fibers.
Step 3. Repeat step 1 Step 4. Once you have removed as much water/stain from your carpet simply place 5-8 paper towels onto the stain, place a heavy book and leave over night. You will be amazed how effective this procedure is in removing liquid stains such as red wine, cordial, coffee/tea. It is Important to remember that there are some types of stains that you should refrain from trying to remove yourself. Such as ink, lipstick, hair dye, wax and/or felt pens, do not risk trying to clean these yourself, as you’ll only make it worse. Give us a call and we’ll be right out to help you.
